College Assignments Completed Contract
Please note: the information below is for new students only. Returning residents should consult the Renewal Procedures for Returning Residents section for application and assignment instructions.
We can offer housing assignments only to certified students. To be certified, you must have submitted your USC Enrollment Commitment Deposit form and the $300 enrollment deposit, or approved waiver, to the Office of Admission.
The USC Housing Services Office makes assignments based on the following criteria:
- The date your application is received by USC Housing Services
- Available spaces in the buildings or programs you have requested and for which you are eligible
Your assignment will be as close to your requests as possible, based on availability and eligibility; however, there is a possibility that this contract may not match any of your building preferences. (Please note that your room or apartment number is not part of your contract and subject to change without notice.)
Freshmen, (defined by USC Housing as recent high school graduates with no college credits), whose housing applications are received by USC Housing on or before May 1, are guaranteed housing. However, this is not a guarantee of a particular type of assignment or a specific building. Early receipt of your housing application increases your chances of being assigned to one of your building or program preferences; it does not guarantee it.
We are unable to guarantee housing to transferring undergraduate or new graduate students. Assignments for those applicants are made based on application date and availability.
Once you have been assigned a housing space, you will be notified by e-mail. You can then log on to the Housing website and review your assignment and housing contract.
This section will show your housing assignment as well as the screen names of any students already assigned to your room or apartment. While a room number will be listed, it is not guaranteed and subject to change without notice.
You may submit your $800 confirmation payment electronically by Visa, Mastercard, American Express or Discover card. Half of this fee ($400) will be credited back to your fall semester rent and the remainder toward your spring semester rent.
Contract and Finish
To confirm your assignment, first read through the Living Agreement. Then, you must click on the ‘I Agree’ button to agree to the terms and finalize your contract; if you fail to do so, your assignment will be cancelled. Clicking on the ‘I Agree’ button is the electronic equivalent of signing a contract, and by doing so you are agreeing to be legally bound by the terms of the Living Agreement.
If you do not confirm your contract and make the confirmation payment by the due date indicated, your assignment will be cancelled and given to another applicant.
Meal Plans (undergraduates only)
If you have a required meal plan, this page will show the default, mandatory meal plan for your assignment. You can add or change a meal plan at the USCard website.
Once you have accepted the contract, you will see a confirmation page, summarizing the basic details of your housing assignment. Please print a copy for your personal records.

Fall 2018 On Campus Housing
January 10, 2018
Welcome Home to Ohio State!
The Office of Student Life and University Housing welcomes you to campus and invites you to learn about Ohio State's campus living options from actual students living in Ohio State residence hall rooms. This video showcases the differences in residence hall options and the benefits of living on campus.
Featured residence halls include Siebert Hall, Bradley Hall, Drackett Tower and Lincoln Tower which represent housing options in each residential area. Regardless of where you live on campus, Student Life and University Housing will welcome you home.
University Housing emails out housing contract information to incoming freshman (who graduated from high school in 2018) in rounds based on their paid acceptance fee date. Housing materials begin to be emailed to the students' OSU email accounts in mid March and continue throughout the spring and summer. We encourage you to activate your OSU email account and check it regularly not only for housing information but for information that might also be sent out prior to your arrival on campus from other university offices.
Students are able to complete the housing contract online. Those students who are 18 years of age or older they can also make their space reservation fee and filing fee ($350) payment online as well. Students under the age of 18 complete the contract online and then need to print the signature page, have a parent or guardian sign and date it, and return the signature page with the payment to the Housing Service's office.
We make the housing assignments over the summer based on the date we received the completed contract and payment and will email the housing assignments along with roommate(s) contact information in early to mid-July to the student's OSU email account. Move in day for fall semester will be Saturday, August 18, 2018. Information regarding our move in process and what students are encouraged to bring are emailed shortly after the time of their housing assignment notifications.
*Students who graduated from high school in 2018 will be required to live on campus for 2 academic years.
We look forward to seeing you in our residence halls this fall! If you have questions please contact Housing at 614-292-8266 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
